And the Oscar for best colour goes to…

Sunday night the who’s who of Hollywood hit the red carpet and walked toward a night of old Hollywood glamour. Everyone was waiting to see who would take home the coveted golden statues for the past years work.  However as usual the awards were well the awards… but the focus as we see year in a year out was to do with who wore what, who was able to pull it off and who fell short.

As per usual there were many black dresses that graced the red carpet; however we were also lucky enough to see some of the stars attempt some of the colour we’re seeing trend for this spring/summer.  Coral, Green, White/Off White, Purple & Fuchsia… were all colours that popped on the red carpet this past weekend.

One of my favourite dresses was that of Ms. Michelle Williams… gracefully gliding down the red carpet in this coral gown she was a vision in what Pantone has named the 2012 colour of the year.  Pops of this colour will make their way into our homes in one way or another. (We look forward to seeing some pictures from those of you taking a chance and adding this colour to a feature wall or piece of furniture.) Looking to try this colour try Benjamin Moores Outrageous Orange 2013-10 or PARA Paints Sweet & Juicy P5072-85

Another colour we’re seeing much of this year is purple… there are so many hues but Maya Rudolph pulled it off in a gorgeous deep purple.  If you’re looking to add this to your new colour palette try PARA’s Garden Plum P5096-85 or Benjamin Moore’s Autum Purple 2073-20.

Another colourful dress that made a great impression was that of Viola Davis one of the front runners for Best Actress. Looking to add this pop of colour to your space, then why not try Benjamin Moores Rosemary Green 2029-40 or PARA’s Leprechaun Legends P5026-63.

To round out some of the great dresses from Sunday night we can’t forget about Best Supporting Actress nominee Octavia Spencer who graced us in an off white beaded number and Emma Stone from Best Picture The Help who dazzled us in a Fuchsia number that proved why red heads can definitely pull off reds or versions there of.  Adding a pop of colour such as Fuchsia or Hot Pink is always fun for a space, and you’ll never go wrong with balancing your space with whites or off whites. Try PARA’s  Every Girls Dream P5219-14 for a beautiful off white or Benjamin Moores Atrium White 79.  For your hit of colour it’s all about Benjamin Moores Peony 2079-30 (one of my favourite) and PARA’s Viva Glam P5086-63.
