Spring is in the air and many of us are starting to stir… thinking about how we can freshen up our spaces and give it a new twist. With technology ever changing I thought this week we’d examine some colour and home & decor apps that may help you on your decor journey.
Here are my top 4 picks to get you on your way!
COLOR LIFE from Benjamin Moore is a new way to experience colour and design, get inspired and find colours you’ll fall in love with. Color Life is a online magazine that will inspire you as you take a virtual tour through outstanding homes to see how colour is used. It shows you the shades that are inspiring leading designers and includes simple colour makeover ideas. With the Paintbox feature you can explore the entire range of Benjamin Moore colours as never before — simply tap, swipe and interact directly with thousands of colours and experiment and explore palettes.
This app has been dubbed the “Wikipedia of interior and exterior design” by CNN. Houzz has the largest database of home design ideas on the internet with over 200,000 high resolution photos. You’re able to browse photos by style, room and location and save them to your virtual idea book.
Many of us are those that tear pages out of a magazine to create an idea board/book and this app will allow the equivalent of clipping design magazines to a scrapbook — making ideas easier to search, save and share. You can experience this app and save your photos locally for offline access. Find everything from local designers to architects and contractors who can help you realize your ideas. The best part is, browsing your idea book you’ll never be at a loss for words with your designers & contractors, they’ll get exactly what you’re trying to do.

TIME IS MONEY; NOW IT’S TIME TO SAVE SOME MONEY –
Renovation Budget Tracker is an app dedicated to help you save money during your next home renovation. Create categories and keep track of how much is being spent and Renovation Budget Tracker will do the rest!
Costs can quickly escalate when tackling a home renovation or home improvement project. Always an exciting and rewarding adventure, but the costs can get out of control quickly. Don’t let your total renovation costs surprise you before it’s too late.
With this great app you can track and budget your renovation expenditures so you know the exact total you have spent to date. You are also able to create up to two Countdown Clocks or Tickers at a time which have customizable text to keep track of how much time is left until your new room will be ready or until a payment is due. It’s all about how it’s working or how you need it to work for you.
Hopefully some of these apps will be an inspiration as you start your new projects… remember to read reviews on your apps and see what others are saying. One app that I was personally excited to try that fell flat was the House Beautiful app… some great colours and ideas, but it’s only one stream of content that isn’t updated. A lesson for me that I should have been reading the reviews…
